What We Do

Educational

• Scholarships to benefit students in need locally in Pensacola Florida  at University of West Florida – mostly in the STEM disciplines.
• Karam Foundation : karam scholar s providing mentorship and financial aid to Syrian students attending university in Türkiye . Those scholarships are aimed to cultivate a new generation of Leaders .
•  Scholarship to Syrian students in Healthcare sciences and STEM disciplines enrolled in Universities in Türkiye . A total of 30 students received financial aid per semester. 
• Scholarship “ Dr. Faisal Rifai” to the Faculty of Engineering at Aleppo Free University .

Medical

• Aref Rifai Foundation  assists in covering medical expenses for patients in need . The expense of receiving eye care and treatment at the Retina Center of  Pensacola , Florida .
• Retina Disease Grant : the grants covers Diabetic Retinopathy treatment for patients  in Jordan . The grant is provided to SAMS ( Syrian American Medical Society )  – 20,000 US for three years. 
• Eye clinic in Northern Syria  : After the Earthquake in Southern Türkiye and Northern Syria in February 2023 The Foundation purchased an Argon Laser used for treatment of Diabetic patients. , The Foundation also purchased basic new equipment to the Eye clinic supported by SAMS .
• Eye clinic in Jordan : The foundation purchased equipment to start an eye clinic in Zaatari camp . The Zaatari camp hosts around 90 thousands refugees , the clinic will provide basic eye care for adults and children.
• Medical missions : members of the Rifai family have participated in medical missions serving underprivileged patients in Jordan and Türkiye. Those activities started on 2013 , performing surgeries on injured civilians with embedded shrapnels in their eyes , moving into a Medical mission to Jordan every 6 months since 2017 . 
• Partnership with SAMS to build an Eye clinic inside the  Multi-specialty center at SAMS Medical city. The SAMS medical city is being built in Northwest Syria. The Eye center will provide first class eye-care aimed at  restoring vision , diagnose and treat eye condition.
